Managing your Personal Budget
Once you have been allocated a personal budget you can then choose to arrange and manage your care in three ways;
1) The council arranges and manages all of your care.
2) You manage a direct payment yourself.
3) A mix of the two.
Council Managed Budgets
You can ask the council to organise and manage your care arrangements. work with you to make sure the care and support is what you need and want and is provided by an agency you are happy with.
Direct Payments
A direct payment is when you are responsible for arranging and managing your own care, with the support of the self-directed support team. You will be able to make your own decisions about your care, which could include personal care, equipment, or activities to do during the day.
Mix of the two
You can choose to have some of your personal budget paid as a direct payment and ask the council to manage some of the money on your behalf.This might apply if you receive a Direct Payment for support at home but also attend a day centre one day a week, which is purchased by the council.
